Lazy Monday post…

Posted by admin on December 21st, 2009. Filed under: Uncategorized.

It’s the first day of break, and man, am I boring already.  Boring + lazy = bullet points!

  • A few people Twittered/emailed me about the gorgeous ring Andrew got me.  I don’t know much about it, other than what was shared when I originally found it.  The button is glass, and etched from underneath.  It’s set in a silver filagree antique band.  The only thing I know about the history of it is that it was a button from a suit from the 1920’s.  In regards to the finger on which I wear it, yes, it is “that finger.”  We are not engaged yet, nor is this an official “promise ring” because that’s just not our deal.  It’s a ring that’s pretty that came from the person to whom I am committed to and love dearly.  Is marriage in the cards?  We’d like to think so, someday, in the future.  Is that a can of worms you don’t want to open? DEFINITELY.  Do I realize I am talking like Kate Gosselin right now?  Yes.
  • The most irritating thing to happen this weekend is that the letter “K” fell off my keyboard.  I never realized how many words use the beloved K, or how difficult it is to get a laptop key back on.  Ugh.  ANNOYING.  Still trying to get that little crapper back on.
  • Andrew and I started watching both Dexter and The Wire last night.  I was underwhelmed.  Dexter was OK, but I am a huge baby, so the killing isn’t really my deal.  The Wire was Law-And-Order-ish, but lacked the sexual chemistry that SVU has.  EPIC FAIL.  Because 75% of the reason I watch is because all I want is for Benson and Stabler to hook up.
  • My brother, Kyle and his sweet fiance, Lauren, asked me to be in their wedding last week.  I am honored and SO EXCITED.  This means a few things though: 1) I need to lose a bajillion pounds, STAT  2)  Their colors include charcoal grey and Lauren loves plaid.  Any of you Etsy wizards have anything I should be checking out for favors, invites, etc.?
  • Speaking of honored, I was nominated for 20SB’s Featured Blogger for the month of January.  I have found some of my favorite bloggers through these Featured Blogger posts and WOW.  I was so touched.  To those that voted for me, thank you.  It is such an honor to even be considered.  And if you haven’t voted yet, well…it’s still open.  I’M JUST SAYING.

Since I have this week off, I am super excited to sleep, have leisurely breakfast and coffee and other dates with good friends, spend as much time as possible with my family and enjoy not being at work.  What are you up to this week, friends?

The letter “i” fell off of my mom’s laptop and it is so damn annoying whenever I am over at her house. I mean, IT’S A VOWEL!

I can’t watch Dexter either. I knew I had to stop getting the DVDs from NetFlix when I kept covering my eyes and squeamishly saying, “tell me when it’s not messy any more!” Am also a huge baby.

  2. Emily Jane

Oh my gosh!! Congrats! I’m going to go vote for you right away :)

  3. Gabriel

I will totally vote for you! My girlfriend and I are in the process of thinking about planning out the thoughts for setting up a wedding sometime in the future. Lol.

If you get a chance check out my blog its at

It takes a little while to get into Dexter, but once you’re there you’re hooked.

  5. Allison Blass

Haha. Talking like Kate Gosselin. At first I was like, “what?” and then I was like “OMG she TOTALLY does that!”

And congrats on being in your bro’s wedding. how fun!

  6. Gina

Saw the ring from your previous post! It’s so Amy, LOVE IT! So cute, it matches nicely with your “A” necklace if I do say so myself ;)

So cool, your going to be in Kyle’s wedding!!! Yeah new “sister”, fun times and new memories ahead!

Last, you should read to book, Ella Minnow Pea…. considering your “K” feel off your keyboard, it’s VERY appropriate!

LOVE YOU FRIEND! Well set something up after our travels!

I think a lazy Monday sounds perfectly lovely and I’m wishing I was having one myself (mainly the not at work part). I just need to make it through tomorrow and I am home free until after the new year. Enjoy your week!

Ok, stick with Dexter! The season finale last week (a couple weeks ago? who knows…) will make watching four seasons of it TOTALLY WORTH IT. The Wire was too heavy for me at the time that I started watching, but I’ve heard so many good things…

  9. Jennie

Dexter does get better! My issues with the first (couple-ish) episodes was that he had nothing redeeming about him. I couldn’t root for him, at all, but that changes and that’s when I got hooked. A few episodes in, if I remember right.

On my old laptop, the “L” came off the keyboard and it was so annoying! At first, I could just lay it on the key and it would work but then it just came off completely. Very, very annoying!

I hope lots and lots of people vote for you! If you don’t make January, you WILL make February! I keep seeing more people vote for you! Yay!

Dexter gets better…just give it a few more episodes. The murder aspect is a little off-putting, but you can get past it.

Congrats on being nominated for Featured Blogger! It’s such a lovely surprise, isn’t it?

I’m such a loser, I have no idea what Dexter and The Wire are, but we just finished Harpers Island (from Netflix) and liked it.

If you skip over Dexter for gore reasons, I’ll forgive you. But, I most definitely will not let it go if you stop watching The Wire because it lacks sex. While it might not have skin-on-skin (save that for Skinemax), it is possibly the best police drama made in history. All five seasons. Aaaaaamazing.

Haha once the “C” key fell off of my work computer, and the company only bought us new ones at the beginning of the year, so I had to suffer like 4 months without a “C” key. It worked only if you pushed it just right, and so if I was in a hurry I’d type emails that were competely with out Cs. Drove my coworkers nuts. Or should I say oworkers LOL.

  15. Beth in SF

P.S. I HATE DEXTER. That is all.

  16. Doniree

I wore all the letters off my last computer (my iBook). I thought it’d be weird, but then the last time I looked at the keys while I typed was in like 6th grade, so… who needs ‘em? :)

  17. BS Talks

I freaking LOVE Dexter. I watched the first 3 seasons over Thanksgiving, one after the other. It was like I was in a trance or something, I couldn’t look away. Sadly, I have to wait for season 4 to come out on dvd before I can devour that one too. You should give it another try. Although, I am a bit weirded out that Dexter and Debra are married in real life.

  18. Miranda

It’s not tacky to respond in bullets, is it? Heh.
-It’s a beautiful ring. It amazes me when I find something from a different time period that is so striking. As for marriage talk, you will be ready for it when you’re ready.
-I had a palm pilot in high school, and the letter K fell off of its keyboard too! Must be something about that letter.
-Being the romantic that I am, I can’t stand to watch very many crime dramas. BUT! L&O: SVU is a goody. I’m on the fence about Benson and Stabler. Part of me wants them to hook up, but the rational part of me asks why a man and a woman on television can work together but not (eventually) get involved.
-Enjoy your time off work and have a happy holiday!

  19. Miranda

Oops…I meant to say “cannot” work together but not get involved…

  20. LiLu

“Do I realize I am talking like Kate Gosselin right now? Yes.”

    Thank goodness. Ahahahaha!

  21. Ari

The letter K fell off? That must be annoying! The letters F and V sometimes don’t like to work on my computer and that’s annoying too.

That ring is so pretty, very unique indeed! Lucky you!!
