No, your eyes do not deceive you, and no, that image isn’t an accident.
You see, last weekend, I had the pleasure of hosting a party at my house, mostly to show of my Wii and its awesome ability to stream Netflix, no DVDs required. It’s pretty amazing.
When planning the party, I’d envisioned us watching something classic and awesome, like “When Harry Met Sally” or maybe “Now And Then” for a bit of a throwback. But, once I showed my friends all of the options available with movies, something caught our eye.
Spice World.
Growing up, I was quite a fan of the Spice Girls. And by fan, I mean that I definitely sent them a fan letter to praise their GIRL POWER message. And yeah, I was at least 12 years old. Shut up. I don’t know that I’d ever seen Spice World, and now that I have, I still couldn’t tell you the plot or the point, if there was one, but man, singing the old songs at laughing at terrible 90′s fashion was a pretty fun way to spend an evening. Big thanks to Netflix for having one of our childhood classics right at our fingertips.
Besides watching Spice World, we indulged in some pizza and salad from a local pizza place, and watched some Zach Galifainakis stand up.
It was an amazing night with some of my favorite people and I had a spectacular time!
Sadly, few of you could be here, but fear not! I’ve got a giveaway for you! Leave a comment to win a 2,000 point Nintendo card, that you can use to buy games for your Wii or DS, or give to your favorite kiddo who has one. For an additional entry, tweet about the giveaway, and leave me a comment with a link to your tweet.
Contest open until July 26th at midnight CDT. Contest open only to residents of USA and Canada; winner will be posted on Monday July 26th and notified via email.
FTC Disclosure:
With the exception of the Netflix subscription, all food, drink, Nintendo Points Cards and a Flip Video Camera were supplied to me by Brand About Town. The opinions in this blog, however, are my own; I was not paid or otherwise compensated to provide a reveiw of the products or party, because really, who’s gonna pay me to watch Spice World?

Two things: 1. I now need to watch Spice Girls because I DID watch it when it came out but I sadly remember none of it (this coming from someone who knows multiple dances to multiple Spice Girl songs) and 2. This is one of the only giveaways I’ve seen that are open to Canadians. So for that? I give you Canadian citizenship. And a bottle of pretend maple syrup.

I have a PS3 that lets me do netflix streaming as well, and I have to admit that I did try streaming Spice World at one time, but Lance and I turned it off after 10 minutes because it made us cringe at how terribly 90′s it was, and I think we just weren’t ready to relive that that night…

I’m laughing so hard picturing everyone watching ‘Spice World.’ That’s awesome. Wish I could have been there to join in the fun! But hey, I’ll take 2,000 points to play with on my parents wii. Glad my parents have a wii and I don’t! Lol. But we have family rockband parties, so it’s all good. Jared has the netflix on his tv, and it’s awesome. You don’t even need cable anymore. It’s all at your fingertips. Also, here’s a tip: if you haven’t see the Comedy Central roasting of Bob Saget you should. I literally cried laughing several times. Ok, I’ll stop rambling now! xo

I love the Wii/Netflix thing!
And my favorite Spice Girls memory was my best friend’s birthday party, can’t remember the year though. Each of us picked a Spice Girl to be and we re-enacted their songs and dances as little performances! Oh, the good ole days….

I have to say, the Netflix on Wii feature is one of my favorite things ever. I’ve been able to catch up on certain TV shows with just a few clicks.

YESSSSSSSSSSSSS omg I was obsessed {and I do mean OBsessed} with the Spice Girls when I was younger. I even had all the barbie dolls I’m afraid. Haha. Your party sounds like so much fun! Mmm pizza. Oh, and my mister would be over the moon if I won the points card for our Wii so count me in

1) My party was last week also and we played games then watched Daniel Tosh. I think I could watch him over and over and over.
2) The whole Wii/Netflix streaming thing got even MORE fun when I discovered some gems in the Children and Family section like Wild Hearts Can’t Be Broken, and Labrythn.
3) I propose you and I have a “movie” night/Skype date sooner than later.

My little sister LOVED Spice World when we were growing up and watched it constantly. And even though I’ve probably seen it about 20 times, I can’t recall if there was a plot…I remember it being like one long music video. I might have to fire up my Wii and relive the good ole days for a bit…

I *loved* Spice World. I was obsessed with the Spice Girls when I was little – it was probably the first CD I bought and listened to over and over.

Uh… yeah, I totally OWN Spice World. On VHS, even. And I thought it was hilarious that the girls embraced making fun of their own stereotypes. I think you might have inspired me to have my own viewing soon…

I used to LOVE Spice World. My sister SAVED up our money (it came out to be a total of $14 or something) to buy it, hah! I was only eight or nine at the time. We watched it probably at least twice a day, and we watched it so much, that I eventually got so sick of it, and I haven’t watched it since. I need to watch it again soon, though! Annnnd I have a Netflix subscription, so is it on Instant Play?
I’m in for the 2000 pts card! I have a Wii and a DSi, so it would come in handy.
