I was awake for mine too, and I DESPERATELY wish I would have had the time to find an oral surgeon that would put me to sleep during. Hopefully when I get the next two taken out, I'll be able to find someone under my insurance who does.

I'm gonna read that article right now, thanks! Also, I third Interpreter of Maladies. I could read those stories over and over and still by touched and haunted each time.

I just read that article and am now even more jealous that you got to meet this woman in person. Also, I second 'Interpreter of Maladies' - one of the books I'm always giving away.

Wow! I was put under when I got my wisdom teeth out. I can't imagine being awake - that's pretty badass.

As for Annie Lamott and Jhumpa Lahiri. Love them BOTH! Lamott is just amazing, so thanks for sharing that article. Can't wait to read it. And you should really read Interpreter of Maladies, Lahiri's short stories collection, if you like her. It was the first book I read of hers and completely agree: blown away by the beauty of her writing.

I was knocked out and wouldn't have it any other way. I had the option of just getting two out and hoping the other two never appeared, but I said 'nope, just take em all, then it's done and I don't ever have to think about it again'. My face swelled up sooo badly though, my skin hurt, it was stretched so far! I'd recommend arnica cream on the outside to prevent bruising too, with all that swelling I only got a hint of yellow bruising. Take care, hope you heal quickly!

I loved the namesake by jhumpa lahiri. Movie of it was good too, mainly because I am a sucker for Kal Penn :-)

I'm glad you got them out. I had mine out this summer and was blissfully unaware of the whole process. My recovery was wonderful too. Hope yours goes by quickly. Yeah for you overcoming your fear and getting them out. I think toothaches and earaches are worse than labor. Hope you have a good weekend!

You were awake? Yikes! I don't know how you did that! I would have had a complete meltdown. Glad you are feeling ok!

Oh man, I feel for you. I had the EXACT SAME THING happen to me with my wisdom teeth. It was awful, especially when they had to break one of my teeth to get it out. They told me to wave my hands if I ever felt anything and I was waving them the entire time and they paid me no attention. Ugh. Popsicles are your friends! Glad that you're not in anymore pain though.

I have been wanting to read her books for so long now and this just makes me want to even more!
