Hi from my couch. I got tired of the stabbing pain in my ear and having a sore throat and called my doctor. Sure enough, ear infection. I started antibiotics and slept for over 10 hours and I guess I really am sick. Boo. I find this wildly unfair, because seriously, who gets an ear infection over the age of six? I had one last year, too. Anyways, I’ve spent today on my couch and after this, it’s time for a nap.
But before all that, I want to share some very exciting mail I got yesterday! On Twitter awhile back, someone mentioned Whimseybox, a BirchBox-style box for crafters. I thought it sounded fun to get a box full of crafty goodies each month, in hopes that it would inspire some crafting outside of what I normal do.
Yesterday, I got my first box. Here are a few pictures:
The box itself was really cute, which I loved…
Inside: pink ribbon, sequins, a slap bracelet, clay and some pretty paint!
A list of all the good stuff, with links to tutorials and a pretty calendar on the back!
I really love this first box! I’m looking forward to painting with the acrylic. I’m hoping I can find use for the ribbon on Project Life and I have no doubts I’ll be able to find something on Pinterest to use the sequins for. Also, I’ve been intrigued by the cool beads I’ve seen made of clay and I’m looking forward to playing with that.
Overall, I’m pretty happy with this! Looking forward to next month and dreaming up new projects to play along.
{For the record, I bought this with my own money and was not compensated in any way to write about Whimseybox. I just know lots of you are REALLY creative and thought it’d be fun to share a product I’m using to stoke my own creativity. That’s it!}

This is the best idea EVER. I don’t craft enough at the moment to justify a monthly subscription to anything, but I love this as a gift idea for my crafty friends.
Cute! I know there is also a stationary/journal “birchbox” type thing out there too.
And also – *I* still get ear infections… welcome to my life.
Feel better!
OH MY GOSH!!! I didn’t even know this was a thing.
So exciting! I’ll totally look into this!
Also, I hope you feel better soon.
I get an ear infection every year, at least. >.< They suck.
@liz_kantner Yeah, I wrote a little about it today: http://t.co/UksMNoOq (cc: @whimseybox @bottlethecrazy)
Wow! This looks awesome! I may have to sign up…
that is a great idea!
if i was more crafty, i’d totally want to subscribe.
aw feel better friend!
but what a fun package to receive, can’t wait to see what you create.
what a cute idea! i’ve never heard of this before.
as for ear infections… a little over a year ago i developed ear infections in both ears, along with a throat infection… the day before my best friend’s wedding. that was fun.
i hope you feel better!
I want this so badly, I just don’t have the money! Once I find a job, I’m definitely signing up.
Very cool! I’m getting more into crafting these days, too. I’d sign up but they’re US only.
FUN FUN FUN! Except for being sick. That’s not fun. Hope you feel better soon.
Amy, thanks for sharing! And thanks to everyone for your nice comments. Crafters really are the best people to work for! -Alicia @ Whimseybox
Ear infections suck! I had one last year after not having any since I was a kid and it took me two weeks to get my hearing back fully. It was miserable! Feel better soon!
I LOVE this idea! I’m not very crafty but this could work for me. Hope you’re feeling better!
Can’t wait to see what you use your Whimseybox supplies for!
2 months before my June 2010 wedding I got an ear infection (I felt ridiculous too!). Then I had a bad allergic reaction to the antibiotics (never had a reaction in my 25 years of life before!) Then, 2 weeks later, I got shingles! So I went from a kid bacteria to an old people virus! Thank goodness for the school nurse who diagnosed me with all these and kept telling me to get my butt to the doctor and stop stressing out because I was obviously making myself sick! Luckily my shingles “scars” (more like discoloration) was an inch below the top of my wedding dress so they didn’t show.
Keeping taking care of yourself!
This is SO cool! And this would make such a great gift for some of the crafty people in my life!
Ever since going organic, I’ve been a little bummed missing out on Birchbox. I also don’t use enough supplies to craft but this sounds like a great idea for the crafter in my life (now I just have to wait for a special occasion to spoil her!)
New Blog Post: Whimseybox!: Hi from my couch. I got tired of the stabbing pain in my ear and having a sore throa… http://t.co/Kq9g9pVl
I thought the same thing when I had an ear infection at 25– who gets these after the age of 6?? No fun.
The whimseyboxes look very fun though! If only I could stay on top of the craft projects I’m already doing… Definitely something my very crafty sister would love though.
