The good, the bad and the ugly…

The Good:

  • It’s Friday, and I’m off Monday.  Yessssss.
  • My little brother turns 22 today!  Happy Birthday, Kyle!  Even though I know you’re def not reading my blog.
  • I got to snuggle my good friend Jody’s new baby this week, and holy cow…I’m in love.  She was barely two weeks old and just so precious and tiny and adorable.  It didn’t help my baby fever, not even a little.
  • I am taking a crochet class as part of my whole effort to be more capable and the first week was really fun!  First of all, I’m taking it with Sandra, who is so sweet!  She is also good at crocheting, which is good for her…but also bad for her, because she’s probably bored!  Still, it’s fun to have a built in friend, and to giggle at how much we know about one another, despite only having just met.
  • I really loved this blog post about mix tapes.

The Bad:

  • I have come to the conclusion that I am horridly judgmental in the gym.  Not about weight, but about behaviors.  Like the lady who doesn’t workout, but just watches TV SO LOUDLY that I can no longer hear the Oprah I was watching, nor my iPod and her son who douses himself with water and splashes me in the process?  I DON’T LIKE YOU.
  • After I was feeling very high and mighty about them, I was tapped on the shoulder by a young man who was alerting me to the fact that I was RAPPING ALONG TO LIL WAYNE at a rather loud level.  Whoopsie.
  • Also on the diet train, I did great yesterday at sticking to my calories and such.  In fact, I had some extra calories and wanting something sweet.  I did my research and found out that I could have a Jr. Frosty from Wendy’s for 160 calories!  I was so excited.  Until I got it, and it was this big:frosty

It was basically one of the saddest moments of my life.  And while three inches of Frosty was good, I wanted like, nine more inches.  TWSS!  Those people who say, “All you need is a bite of a treat to be satiated!”: I CALL BS.

The Ugly:

  • My district announced some pretty serious layoffs.  We’ll see if it’s me.  I’m not wild about the two month stomachache I had last year being part of my life while they straighten it out.  No good.  I’m just trying to stay positive.  Even if it’s NOT my job on the chopping block, watching my colleagues and others I care about lose their positions really sucks.  I’m so over this economy!

What was good, bad and ugly about your week?

  • so basically a jnr frosty is two mouthfuls?

  • Ohhhhh the Frosty. Sweet deliciousness. But seriously, 3 inches? That’s such a let down (TWSS – it never gets old…)

More layoffs? Here’s hoping you get to stay. If I were the same age as your students, I would’ve LOVED to have a teacher like you.

  • Good – spent most of the week on a high after the Manchester Tweet-up last weekend, catching up with an old friend on Tues, Kelly Clarkson last night.
Bad – exhausted from the weekend away
Ugly – I have agreed to work tomorrow but I want my bed!

I love the dedication that led you to measure it for us :)

  • I hate that the JR is that small! Such a tease. Great job keeping such good track of your calories, though! That’s extremely admirable.

  • We just found out yesterday that a good friend was laid off under similar circumstances. All non-tenured teachers were laid off; a total of 61. Some may be hired back if they can work it into the budget, but it’s not likely. I’d think it’s hard to enthusiastically work through the end of the year, knowing you won’t be asked back next year.

  • This economy is hard and watching people lose their jobs is even harder.

My good for the week — I didn’t work a full week due to the snow we had, in fact, today will be the first full day I’ve worked all week.

  • I literally laughed out loud at the picture of the Frosty cup next to the ruler. Wow. That is one SMALL drink. God love you, Amy.

I still owe you an e-mail. Until then, much love, my dear.

  • Good: I got tickets to one of my favourite bands who are actually coming to my city in April!

Bad: My job still might be on the chopping block too, and I’m living day to day in uncertainty, but hope.

Ugly: Found out my grandma is still in hospital and now has to have surgery at the same place that screwed up her shoulder so she hasn’t been able to use it for ten years. Surgery – on the OTHER shoulder. I hate thinking of her alone in hospital thousands of miles away and having to go through that alone.

I did crack up picturing the rapping along to Lil Wayne in the gym though :)

  • It’s always ugly as a teacher when you hear about budget cuts. Been there, done that. Each is always as bad as the previous.

  • The good: Allowing myself one night off from the gym to rest and the next totally kicking ass at running.

    The bad: Idiotic coworkers.

The ugly: I’ve lost may patience to deal with idiotic coworkers.

(Side note: picturing you rapping to Lil Wayne is pretty hilarious. As is the Jr Frost being only 3 inches. I would have wanted a bigger one also.)

First of all, I am LOVING the Frosty picture! I have to agree that the size of the Jr. is rather ridiculous and people who say a little sweet is enough really didn’t have a true craving in the first place! I know you agree! :)

So for my week here in the cold Midwest:

The Good: Looking forward to a day off on Monday next week, being happy when I got on the scale because the number was smaller, my brother Tony’s birthday yesterday (the big 24…scary), getting to see my niece and nephew, and my brother Austin earning his Sho-Dan-Ho in Karate!

The Bad: The snow and freezing cold weather this week. I rather disliking the fact that I had to drive to work when it was snowing and blowing, ridiculous crazy people who seem to come out of the woodwork at GS Cookie time (I swear the smell of cookies draws them out.)

The Ugly: Not staying within my calorie allotment yesterday (damn birthday dinner) and getting real heartburn for the first time (I seriously cried because I had to go by rolaids….pathetic, I know, I know…)

  • It’s like the diet advice: If you’re hungry, have a few almonds. Um, no. If I’m hungry I want a hamburger or turkey sandwich! Not a few nuts.

  • the good– SKINNY TITCH inspired me to get up this morning and swim. thanks amy!
the bad– i don’t get a three day weekend
the ugly– my bank account. when you buy a house you are supposed spend less money so you can make your house payment… but because you have a new house you want to spend lots of money decorating it. oh, sweet irony!

  • My mother is one of those “I just need one small square of dark chocolate” people. I’m one of those “I just need one huge plate of nachos and a margarita or three” people. Clearly we disgust each other.

  • Good: Had 2 job interviews and worked out with a personal trainer
Bad: So sore from working out that I can barely move today
Ugly: No job offers yet, and I’m going to get really drunk tonight because of this! Ugly drunk! haha

I’ll send good thoughts your way that it’s not you on the chopping block!

Amy, it was so great to meet you last Tuesday… and I wasn’t bored at all! Quite the opposite. This class actually totally keeps my crafting mojo going :)

I am crossing my fingers for you that you won’t be affected by the layoffs. This really blows… especially the state of limbo that they keep you in for a couple of months.

I had to laugh about the fact that you’re rapping along to Lil Wayne at the gym. How fun! :)

  • The good — It’s stopped snowing, so I can finally go to the market.

The bad — I ate like crap all week.

The ugly — And I injured myself.

Overall, complete fitness fails. Happy weekend, Amy!

hope that we can enjoy some satisfying calories together this weekend.

  • The good: I visited my grandma yesterday, who’s still recovering from her surgery. And while she’s still in a lot of pain, she’s doing a LOT better. She visits her surgeon in 2 weeks and then finds out what type of chemo she’ll be having. But it was so awesome to see her!

The bad: I’ve eaten a lot of chocolate today. And candy. Blame it on V-Day.

The ugly: I haven’t worked out in a week. And I have absolutely no motivation to do anything that makes me sweat.

  • The good – we know the gender of my sister’s baby now.
The bad – my paycheck got seriously delayed so I stopped payment and then it showed up
The ugly – the child Im in charge of after school pooping in his pants

  • Dang, you beat me to the That’s What She Said :) I would have definitely ordered 3 more of them. Oops.

  • Good: I watched the opening ceremonies and loved them.
Bad: I haven’t done any school work this week.
Ugly: I spent more time being frustrated with Jason than appreciating him.

Doesn’t it suck that lay-offs go by seniority rather than productivity? Also, you’re not alone on the judgemental thing at the gym. I judge people who take the machine i want. Apparently, I have a right over everyone else because I say so.

  • Good: Got to see my baby on Friday!
Bad: Spent 90% of the week stressing about ectopic pregnancy.
Ugly: $40 million in cuts in our district means no one will have a job next year.

    [Reply]

  • Aahaha, I would get the same way at the gym. I’d be running and mentally noting who didn’t really look like they were putting forth effort on the stairclimber, who was setting weights back down wrong, who left a machine but didn’t wipe off their sweat, who was there to pick up numbers, etc.

What I’m saying is.. I’m the NICEST person ALIVE.

    [Reply]

  • I cannot believe that you just blogged that you got three inches [of Frosty] but wanted like nine more.
    DYING.

    [Reply]

  • What a sad, short little Frosty!!

    [Reply]

  • good: I still have my job
bad: I think I might be getting sick
the ugly: me and my ex cannot figure out if we are dating or not, and he might just want to be friends with benefits, which means it is time to walk away again.

    [Reply]

  • YESSS I call it BS too, you know I hate having to look up calorie counters and notice my favorite drinks ( like frozen starbucks treats or slurpees ) have high calories for such a small size. It’s like I wanna throw someone haha

Monday off sounds really good though :D

    [Reply]

  • Yay! I have Monday off too!

Good: Getting lots of Valentine’s love from my blog friends

Bad: finding out I have a stress induced ulcer in my mouth. Seriously, that shit hurts.

    [Reply]

  • More inches is always a good thing. Sorry, had to go there.

    Good: poutine.
    Bad: Friend drama
Ugly: repurcussions(sp?) of celebrating the Olympic Opening Ceremonies with both red and white wine (cause you know gotta be patriotic with both of Canada’s colours).

    [Reply]

  • I don’t have much of a problem with the curly-haired girl who is rapping Lil Wayne, but I really hate the I’m-So-Serious-Grunting-Weight-Lifter Guy.
