Thankful: Saturday edition

Today, I thought I’d list things I’m thankful for today:

  • Waking up after sleeping for nearly TWELVE HOURS and feeling quite good about it—I needed sleep, obviously.
  • Rooting around the kitchen for pancake ingredients ’til Andrew came in and said he’d take me out to breakfast instead!  Hooray!
  • Delicious pumpkin pancakes and lots of giggles with the boyfriend over breakfast.
  • Getting a prescription filled (my poor teeth are still troubling me!) for super, super cheap!
  • A haircut and brow wax that makes me feel pretty!  And getting to have girl talk with my friend/stylist during the process
  • Showing up early to chat with my mom, who also had her hair done!
  • Having Andrew show up mid-haircut with some Jamba Juice for lunch (it literally takes 3 hours to rein in my mane!)
  • My dad finishing chemotherapy yesterday and being on the tail end of radiation!  Lots of prayers that it’ll be his last round of treatment.
  • Making delicious turkey meatloaf and mashed potatoes for dinner.
  • Curling up on the couch to watch “Love, Actually” — the closest to a Christmas movie Andrew will let me get right now.

Today was DEFINITELY a good day…

  • I’m glad you did this post, it’s so easy to forget what we’re thankful for when faced with trying times. This inspires me to do a Thankful post as well.

  • I love Love Actually! It’s my christmas movie, it feels weird watching it any other time of year. I also love the soundtrack. I’m afraid I’m not really one for christmas tunes, but this album is perfect for this time of year – a great mix of songs with a couple of christmas carols. After the Pearl Jam/Ben Harper concert I’m going to next weekend I’ll probably switch onto this album.

I’m also glad to hear your Dad is almost there with his treatment. My family are going through their share of health issues at the moment too, and it’s awful what they have to go through to get better. At least we have these treatment options available, we can be thankful for the good outcomes they can bring in the long run at least :-)

  • Pumpkin pancakes…. YUM! Lots of things to be thankful for!

  • Love Actually is one of my all time favorite movies! I might just have to watch it now.

I will be praying for your dad that this is the end of the cancer road for him and your family!

I am glad your dad is doing well. Watching someone you love go through it is hard, I know, I watched my mom go through it to.

Totally Jealous about the sleeping in part, I am working the weekend to finish up a proposal.

I already busted out the Christmas movies, my personal fav is “A Cristmas Story,” One of the perks of being single and living alone, no one cares when I get gushy and decide to but out the holiday movies 2 weeks too soon.

  • I’m glad you’re dad is coming through it well. I know far too many people who are sick right now…

I WISH I could sleep in that late. My body has this issue where even if I’m falling over tired it won’t let me sleep in more then 8 hours, and even that’s pushing it. My body hates me :(

Love, Actually is one of the best Christmas movies ever! It’s almost the only Christmas movie I watch during the holidays. Almost, of course, because you can’t ever forget the glory that is Elf :)

  • 1. I hope this is your dad’s last round of chemo too! I said a little prayer for him.
    2. Love Actually is one of my favorite movies EVER.
    3. I haven’t said so yet, but I love your new blog design. I wish I could do something pretty like this for my blog. Did you hire someone to do it, or did you do it yourself? Either way it’s adorable.

  • Love Actually is my annual First Movie of December :) LOVE IT. I heard Pirate Radio just came out this week, and it was from the same people, so I can’t wait to see it!

I second the blog kudos! It’s looking really pretty :)

It truly is the little things in life that we should be thankful for on a daily basis, and those all sound like the makings of a great weekend! Love Actually… I LOVE that movie… funny story about that….

I got a new haircut that makes me feel pretty as well, so we will be the hottest chicas around when we hang out! :o )

  • I love so much about this post! I was just thinking about Love Actually. That’s one of my all-time favorite movies. And you just reminded me that I need a haircut. Ha :)
