Love List

I love the moment when I first arrive at my mom and dad’s house and they both envelope me in hugs and I know they’re genuinely happy to have me there. I love the mini meow my cat lets out whenever he jumps onto something. I love my first sip of coffee every morning. I love catching my students reading, even when they’re not supposed to be. I love the “ding” of a text on my iPhone and seeing the name of someone I love across my phone. I love naps. I love California.

I love making someone laugh. I love it when someone makes me laugh. I love it when I hit my stride during a run and I feel like I can go forever. I love savasana in yoga class. I love being out dancing and hearing the beat drop and watching everyone react to the music. I love holding hands. I love mornings with nowhere to be and a clean house and a full DVR. I love making meals and having someone else appreciate them. I love a spotless house.

I love the San Francisco Giants, and I especially love going to their games. I love it when friends share their secrets with me. I love inside jokes. I love Arrested Development and Friday Night Lights. I love going to the movies alone. I love the pop of a champagne bottle, and cheers-ing for no real reason. I love seeing my favorite bands in concert. I love conquering something I’m afraid of.

I love fireworks. I love New Years Eve. I love setting goals for myself. I love listening to Christmas music. I love quiet mornings in my classroom. I love seeing my oldest and dearest friends and picking up right where we left off. I love my MacBook. I love black dresses and fun jewelry. I love making to-do lists and scheduling things in my Erin Condren planner. I love walking through the farmer’s market. I love getting emails and phone calls from my Grandma Carol every week.

I love “family time” with Andrew and Harry cat late at night, when we stay up talking way too late. I love going to concerts. I love a good cry. I love my Kindle. I love the smell of fresh laundry, of libraries, of bread baking and of new car. I love blogging and what it’s done for me. I love reading something that inspires me.

I love sitting in front of the ocean. I love new notebooks. I love my girlfriends. I love Disneyland. I love being outside. I love going out for brunch, and meeting friends for happy hour. I love payday. I love the sound of the bell on the last day of school and the cheer that always erupts.

I love it when my former students visit me. I love getting flowers. I love sending and receiving mail. I love 4th Of July. I love anything involving water. I love slow dancing. I love putting on makeup, just as much as I love days when wearing it is unnecessary. I love coming home and throwing on my sweats. I love Don Draper. I love a good steak, a glass of wine and a sinful dessert. I love seeing that “aha” moment in a student.

I love knowing that I am loved and supported.

I love those moments when I realize I’m happy.

What is on your Love List?

Inspired by Jennie’s post. You should read her. Seriously.
