In which an English teacher uses numbers to explain her day…

45 — The number of minutes it took me to arrive at work this morning.  Commutes suck.

1 —  The number of lattes I consumed this morning.

1700 — The number of lattes I wish I’d had this morning.

2 — The number of red heels on my feet this morning.

2 — The number of feet that were going to fall off or bleed out by the end of the day.

101 — The number of 8th graders I will be battling with teaching this year.

6 — The number of periods I teach.

252 — The number of minutes I spent TALKING today.  Yes, I hate the sound of my own voice.

3 — The number of students I had to tell to stop talking while I was talking today.

65 — The number of minutes it took me to commute home today.

100 — The temperature outside.  Did I mention that my car’s AC is broken?  Because it totally is.

1 — Number of former students that came to visit me today.

It was a good first day back.   The first day is a total honeymoon, so you never can tell.  My biggest issue?  I wore high heels.  Rookie mistake.

I CAN’T believe you wore heels. Have you learned nothing? In other new, my summer vacay is off to a great start.

  • Awww, hoping for an improvement on some of those numbers tomorrow! It’s not 101 degrees here, but it was…. hang on I must do a conversion from Celsius to Fahrenheit… about 95 today. And my car doesn’t even HAVE air-conditioning. But you read my car post, so that should not be shocking :)

You had your frist day of school already? That sucks. School is not for another couple of weeks down here. Well, good luck. I know I couldn’t do it. I think it is my lack of patience or my overwhelming sense to knock them on the head when they ask stupid quesitons.

  • I don’t think I could be a teacher because of the talking-all-day factor. I hate when I have to train people at work because I feel like I’m talking too much. I hate hearing my own voice in monologue. It makes me just want complete silence when I get home.

  • Give it a couple week and I’m sure you’ll be perfectly back in the swing of things.

Why does your school start so early?

I am so proud of you wearing heels! Oh, and the fact that they were red makes me beam with happiness! :)
