Friday Best & A Chance To Make A Difference

It’s Friday and I’m exhausted! My first week back to work has been good, but it’s always a challenge getting used to getting up early again.

I’ve got a lot of awesome stuff to share this week, plus a cool opportunity at the bottom. But first, the links:

And something I need your help with, please. This November, I’ll be attending Camp Mighty, a blogger conference/camp focused on connecting with other bloggers and working on our Life Lists. Beyond working toward our own goals, we’re also coming together to make a difference by partnering with Charity:Water.

A few startling facts, from Charity:Water: 4,500 children die each day from diseases caused by a lack of safe drinking water and proper sanitation. In Sub-Saharan Africa, a baby’s chance of dying from diarrhea is almost 520 times greater than here in the US. Illnesses like diarrhea are caused by drinking contaminated water and kill more than 2.2 million people each year. That’s the equivalent of 20 jumbo jets crashing every day.

Over one billion people lack access to clean water (and you can learn more here). This is a major world issue, and I’m excited to partner with my fellow Mighty Campers to make a difference in this issue.

This is where you come in. Each camper is asked to donate or raise $200 to go towards Charity: Water. I’d love to be able to do more, and I’d love to have your help.

So, here’s the plan: I’m asking you to donate and purchase a virtual “raffle ticket.” Each ticket will cost $2, and you may purchase as many as you’d like, and I’ll enter you once for each $2 (i.e. $10 = 5 entries). With each $2 “raffle ticket” you’ll be entered to win:

  • A $25 Amazon Gift Card
  • Homemade brownies (by yours truly)
  • A mix CD made by yours truly
  • A few other random goodies
While I realize that there are many other “fancier” giveaways out there, my main point is to give to Charity:Water. If I exceed the $200 with these donations, the remainder will also go to Charity:Water. I‘ll post the final amount donated, as well as the raffle winner on Wednesday, November 2nd. Donate below, using PayPal:
