Five years…

harryme

Five years ago this weekend, I adopted Harrison Roo, my angel of a kitty. The photo above was taken a few weeks after I got him, and I think it really sums up our relationship: I absolutely adore him.

Yes, I realize that blogging about how delighted I am to have adopted this little baby definitely labels me a crazy cat lady, but I don’t care. Harry brings me so much joy. Truly, he is my absolute best “friend”: he has been there through every stage of my life, gives me endless cuddles and makes me laugh on a daily basis. He is a big part of my life and heart and I’m so happy he’s my little baby, my kitten roo, my Mister Face, my snausage and all of the other ridiculous names I have for him.

And don’t even get me started on the songs I sing to him.

So, happy five years, Harry.  I am so glad I get to be your mommy.

Congratulations on your five wonderful years with Harry! Aren’t cats the greatest thing especially after a long day at school? I’m a teacher too…3rd grade. May you have many more years of happiness with your Kitten Roo. I too have many (way too many) nicknames for my kitties. Funny thing is I have one my lap as I type.

    Songs! HAHAHAHAHA!

My kitty’s name is Ollie. He has his own song (sung to the tune of “You Are My Sunshine.”

    You are my Ollie
    My Hot Tamale
    You make me happy
    Like Laffy Taffy
    You’ll never know dear
    You taste like Root Beer
Please don’t take My Ollie Awaaaaayyyyyyyyyyy

If that’s not crazy cat lady, I don’t know what is. ;P

  • awwww, you’re such a good mommy to Harrison Roo.

  • You only have one cat. You’re still 9 shy of being a crazy cat lady. :-) He is such a cutie. I love my soft snuggly friends, too. They are my buds. They know when I’m upset and nuzzle me when I cry. They greet me at the door when I come home. They whine when I lock them out of the bedroom at night and I still DIE when I open the bedroom door in the morning to find a pile of their toys right there. They have the funniest personalities and I can’t imagine life without them. I got them when I was 24 and it seems crazy that I’ll likely have them until I’m 40. Weird! I’m so happy you have such a special little guy in your life :-) Ok, I need to stop now before I start sounding like a crazy cat lady….

  • Awww congrats on five years! I’ll have had mine four in the new year and I couldn’t imagine life without her. She gets sweeter every day!! I totally just went and bought her a Christmas present last night :)

  • Congrats on five years! I like this photo of you. I too, have had my cat for five years this coming January. Cats are awesome.

  • Aww. I don’t think that quite makes you a crazy cat lady, but there’s nothing wrong with being a crazy cat lady either.

I had cats growing up and I just adopted my Leo in February. He is my shadow – he follows me around when I get home from work and insists on sitting next to me where ever I am. If I move next year, I’m going to have to find a place that lets me have cats, because I could not leave him – we would both be too sad.

  • from one crazy cat lady to another! congrats on the five years. i love that photo.

    xo

  • There are still more people than animals in your house, so you;re not a crazy cat lady yet, at least by my math.
I am assuming that Harry got lots of chinnies AND rumpies yesterday?
And now I have to prevent Erik from breaking more shit in the kitchen.

  • I feel the exact. same. way. about my baby kitty, Webster. Except he’s not a baby anymore, he’s a year old, but I think of him as a baby! I just love him SO MUCH! Nothing wrong with that, though :)

  • Aww :) I’ve never had a cat that long and we always had a cat growing up..I hope my 2 that I have now stick around!

  • Aw, that’s too cute! I’m more of a dog person and I definitely sing to him and have a few songs that I serenade him with!

    Congrats on the 5 years!

  • our kitten is princess pineapple bottom jeans (and my 2.5 yr old sings “boots with the fuuuur”). Crazy cat ladies are just the secret handshake to unlock the best club ever!!

I’m the same way with my German Shepherd – he’s my baby. We’ve been through so much together.

Its ok – I call myself the Crazy Dog Lady of 5 Points – because I talk and sing to him all the time . I think its just natural.
