I give myself permission to…
…steal a blog post idea from one of my favorite people on the planet
…be pissed off and sad about the hand life is currently dealing to me and those I hold dearest, but also to…
…find small joys in every day, because they do exist
…fill the bathtub, let the cold-ish water drain, and then fill it up again so I can keep reading
…tear up easily at good things and bad things, because that’s just who I am
…keep some things a secret
…sleep in late and grab a nap whenever I get a chance
…dream BIG and hope BIG, even when things seem less-than-possible
…revel in my Don Draper obsession
…download an obscene amount of music
…sing at a ridiculously loud volume while car dancing
…pull away from friendships that don’t serve me
…try new things, even if I look and feel a little bit silly
…love the way I look in a skirt, even though I’m not “skinny”
…speak my truth with love
What are you going to give yourself permission to do?

I give myself permission to sing in the car with all the windows down even though I have a less than perfect voice.

Great post, Amy. I give myself permission to read your blog more religiously. =)

…love him, even if they tell me I shouldn’t.
…let go of him, because I know I must.
…open my heart. Open my heart.

beautiful. I’m stealing this as well…it totally fits what I wanted to write about today but just couldn’t find the right words.
awesome.

It’s ridiculous how much better you’ll feel after car singing/dancing
I can relate in the friendship thing too. Pulling away from negative relationships just leaves room in your life for more positive ones!
I love this idea, I’ll probably steal it soon too, haha

…feel the way I do, even if I know it’s silly
…wish for things that I know will never happen, ever
…run with reckless abandon even though I look silly

Naps are very important to a full life.

Read “prep” and watch “Buffy” and order the new “Baby-sitters Club” novel & not be ashamed. Only wear t-shirts & cardigans & not really care if it’s totally a go-to uniform. Sleep in at my mom’s house this weekend. <3

I give myself permission to admit that I want to change a situation, instead of trying to make do with it. And I LOVE that image you chose for this post.

I give myself permission to laugh at something stupid every day, feel good in the skin I’m in, indulge in that daily sugar that I just can’t live without, and to spend a little extra time just enjoying the little things.

I will be sleeping in late on sunday, with no regard for anyone or anything else.
I will also give myself permission to cut myself some slack.

…relax and enjoy where I’m at in life right now; stop constantly planning for the future.

Who cares about being “skinny”??? I bet you look fabulous in a skirt. I think most teachers do.
It just a nice look.

I give myself permission to do absolutely nothing but immerse myself in good literature and the sun’s rays for a few days. As a graduation gift to myself, this is what I will do.
Best,

I give myself permission to let Google Reader pile up without flinching, to read cheesy library books, to do more research than I probably should about certain things.

…pull away from friends that don’t serve me…
Thanks for putting this in perfect words. I’m going through a falling out with someone who I once believed to be my closest friend. I’ve been feeling so guilty about it but at the end of the day, I think it’s the best thing to do.

I love the photo!!
I give myself permission to be happy and stay calm this week because I know it’ll be busy and crazy at work.

Love your list.
little things like sitting on the bath tub reading a book and singing out loud will definitely gonna keep the smile on your face, even when sometimes you don’t feel like it
