August 23rd, 2009 So, on both Friday and Saturday night this weekend I didn’t feel like cooking dinner. I’m not even going to apologize for it. It was seriously the longest week ever, and then the meal I planned for Saturday evening was foiled because SOMEONE forgot to put the meat for the turkey burgers in the freezer. So, it expired in the refrigerator. And I DON’T EAT ANYTHING past the expiration date.

August 22nd, 2009 Um, I’m still recovering from my hellish week, so I don’t have much to say.
But, have no fear!
You can do as I did and spent HOURSSSS on Lamebook laughing at people who either don’t know how to use Facebook OR who use it in really awkward, weird ways.
Also, you should check out this lovely lady. And this one.
I will be back soon, once I’ve had my

August 21st, 2009 I realize the past few days of posts have been chock full of meme’s and listy goodness, but this week has seriously ROBBED me of any energy and/or time. I am so darn ready for a weekend, it’s insane. In fact, I’m at work early in hopes of completing all of my grading, so that this weekend can be work-free! Of course, blogging doesn’t get my papers graded. Oops.
Anyways,

August 20th, 2009 I shamelessly stole this from Sparkly To Single. I’m not even sorry.
Outside my window… I see classrooms and teachers getting ready for Back To School night! Everyone gets all gussied up and cleans their classrooms—it’s pretty fun.
I am thinking… About a lot of big and little things, and things in between. I’m trying to just be content and not overthink, as I have a tendency to do.

August 20th, 2009 Instead of work today, I’d rather be doing the following:
Staying at home in my pj’s Sleeping until noon Drinking coffee in the sunshine Getting a mani/pedi Creating something fun with paper and glue and paint and scissors Sitting near the ocean with a good book On a plane to anywhere
Where would you rather be today?
I’d take any of the options above. Instead? I’ll be working, grading papers

I try to keep this space semi-un-sappy, and usually work-free, but today was really cool. My students read part of Maya Angelou’s novel I Know Why The Caged Bird Sings. It centered on descriptive writing, and Angelou’s brilliant description of pineapple-upside down cake.
I decided it’d be fun to bake pineapple upside-down cake for my kids to try. I’m not sure how much time you spend with middle school

August 19th, 2009 Yesterday, I had the great pleasure of spending an afternoon with 40 middle schoolers. I am being genuine when I say it was a pleasure—I’m coaching a team this year (don’t worry, NO SPORTS, all academics!) and we had our first meeting. Though it will certainly add about a billion hours of work, I’m really looking forward to getting to know these kids and helping them prep for competition, my

“It’s confounding how we need people to be defined so starkly, so black-and-white. I’m not one aspect of the human experience–none of us is.”
—Jennifer Aniston, Elle Magazine
August 18th, 2009 First of all, thank you for all of your sweet responses to my exercise in humiliation vlog yesterday. I was super worried and nervous and sure I was going to look like a total idiot. Which I think I did, but thanks for tolerating me. And saying nice, sweet things.
A few of you have asked me a couple questions lately and I have been a bit remiss in answering.

August 17th, 2009 So, time for my weekly update on le fat. Which, by the way, is still there.
I did lose 2.4 pounds last week, which was exciting. Sadly, my Weight Watchers site did NOT celebrate with me—in fact, it asked me if I’d been eating all of my points. Don’t worry kiddos. STILL EATING. Oh, and still fat.
This week has been difficult, for a variety of reasons. Meaning that eating
